Event: Climate Change Diplomacy e-Learning Course [viewed]

This e-learning course on Climate Change Diplomacy has been developed by the Multilateral Diplomacy Programme of the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). The course aims to provide the necessary training to facilitate participation in climate change-related international negotiations, public sector work and diplomatic engagement through the provision of enhanced understanding of the science of climate change, its international policy framework, and the key negotiation issues pertinent to reaching a post-2012 agreement. The course will last for 8 weeks, from 12 September-15 November 2011.

UNCCD Organizes Workshop on Impact Indicators for Pilot Countries [viewed]

13 July 2011: The Secretariat of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) launched a pilot exercise on tracking impact indicators at the national level. The "inception workshop" for the exercise concluded with an action plan for pilot countries to apply impact indicators on Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought (DLDD), at the national level.

UNESCO, Japan Launch Project on Flood Forecasting in Pakistan [viewed]

IDB to Administer GEF Geothermal Project in Colombia [viewed]

5 July 2011: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will administer a US$2.7 million grant from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to assist the Colombian Government in developing a regulatory framework to foster the use of non-conventional renewable energy, by establishing incentives and removing barriers to investments in geothermal power projects.
