The Ministerial Communiqué also stresses that "more needs to be done to bring CCS to the marketplace."

GCF Board Approves First Projects [viewed]

green-climate-fund-new6 November 2015: The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is set to fund its first projects after the Board approved eight proposals at its 11th meeting (GCFB 11). The approved funding, which is contingent on fulfillment of specified conditions for seven of the projects, totals US$168 million. At the meeting, the Board also adopted an initial monitoring and accountability framework for accredited entities, a process to develop a strategic plan, a decision on the readiness programme and an updated set of administrative guidelines on procurement.

Silva2015 Calls for Development of Forest-Related Indicators on SDGs [viewed]

Participants at Ssilva20156 November 2015: Silva2015, the joint session of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Committee on Forests and the Forest Industry and the European Forestry Commission of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), addressed the theme 'The Value of Forests.' The session gathered representatives from 39 countries from Europe, Central Asia, the Caucasus and North America, who pledged to continue their efforts to build climate change into national forest programmes, and asked UNECE and FAO to develop global forest-related indicators related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), building on existing indicators.

CCDA-V Delegates Consider Progress on UNFCCC Objectives, Africa's Role [viewed]

GEF Council Reappoints CEO Naoko Ishii for Second Term [viewed]

naoko_ishii23 October 2015: The 49th meeting of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council approved a work program amounting to US$254.99 million. The work program comprises 17 project concepts and two programmatic approaches, focusing mainly on climate change and sustainable ecosystem management in the Amazon. In addition, GEF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairperson Naoko Ishii was appointed for a second four-year term.

UNCCD COP 12 Discusses SDG Target on Land Degradation Neutrality, DLDD Links with Climate Change [viewed]

cop12unccd23 October 2015: The 12th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP 12) adopted 35 decisions following deliberations on agenda items related to desertification, land degradation and drought (DLDD), including how to pursue the Sustainable Development Goals' (SDG) target to achieve land degradation neutrality (LDN) and how to align the UNCCD's goals and Parties' action programmes with the Goals. Parties also considered messages for the Paris Climate Change Conference, which will take place from 30 November-11 December 2015.

UNFCCC19 October 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has reported that Antigua and Barbuda, Guinea, Niger, Oman and Uganda have formally submitted their intended nationally determined contributions (INDCs), bringing the total number of Parties that have made their submissions to 154.

IPCC-42 Concludes with Election of New Bureau [viewed]

Hoesung_Lee8 October 2015: The 42nd session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC-42) convened from 5-8 October 2015, in Dubrovnik, Croatia, bringing together 424 delegates from 136 countries. The meeting focused on the election of members of the IPCC Bureau and the Task Force Bureau (TFB), including the IPCC Chair, IPCC Vice-Chairs, Co-Chairs of the Working Groups (WGs) and TFB, Vice-Chairs of the WGs and TFB members. An informal session, hosted by the Croatian Government, provided the candidates for IPCC Chair with a forum to present themselves to delegates.
