Event: World Summit on the Information Society Forum [viewed]

This Forum is being co-organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the UN Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the UN Commission on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP). The Forum will address issues related to the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS ) implementation and follow-up process, information and communication technologies (ICTs) for the millennium development goals (MDGs), accessing knowledge, financial mechanisms in the economic downturn, cybersecurity, climate change and ICTs, and ICT applications for a better life.

Report of 20th Meeting of CDM Small-Scale Working Group Released [viewed]

© UNFCCC8 May 2009: The report and annexes of the 20th meeting of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Small-Scale Working Group (SSC WG), which took place from 29 April-2 May 2009, in Bonn, Germany, are now available on the CDM website. At the meeting, the Group considered requests for creation of new methodologies for small-scale CDM projects, and agreed to recommend seven of the proposed new methodologies.

CBD Secretariat's Quarterly Report Includes Activities on Biodiversity and Climate Change [viewed]

© CBD5 May 2009: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has published the quarterly report on the administration of the Convention, covering the period from January-March 2009. In relation to biodiversity and climate change, the report highlights the following activities: a capacity development workshop for the Pacific on National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans, the Mainstreaming of Biodiversity and the Integration of Climate Change (2-6 February 2009, Nadi, Fiji); and an online dialogue on the links between biodiversity, climate change adaptation and risks and vulnerabilities (9-20 March 2009) in preparation for the second meeting of the Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group on Biodiversity and Climate Change.
