The integrated event of Seventh Regional EST Forum in Asia and Global Consultation on Sustainable Transport in the post-2015 Development Agenda will be held on 23‐25 April 2013 in Bali, Indonesia. The Regional EST Forum, under the theme of “Next Generation Transport System We Want for 21st Century~ Looking Beyond Rio+20”, will discuss and share the progress and achievements made by the countries towards achieving the goals under the Bangkok 2020 Declarations and will address EST in the context of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) outcome ‐ "The Future We Want". The Seventh EST Forum is expected to address, inter alia: EST in the Context of Rio+20 outcome and the post-2015 development agenda; Non‐Motorized Transport (NMT), road safety and social equity; promotion of Public Bicycle Schemes; full Integration of Public Transport Modes; Intelligent Transport System: A Vision of 21st Century Cities; regional connectivity (intra‐region, rural‐urban linkage, etc.) for sustainable development; building resilient transport infrastructure and services through EST Measures; financing Needs of Next Generation Sustainable Transport Systems for the 21st Century; Institutional Arrangements in Realizing Next Generation Sustainable Transport Systems for the 21st Century; Contribution of Railways towards realizing EST and sustainable development in post Rio+20 development; the contribution towards realizing EST in Asia by the Rio+20 $175 billion voluntary commitment for more sustainable transport by eight multilateral development banks as well as other voluntary commitments on sustainable transport; greenways initiative for converting road space into leaner parks and high quality pedestrian areas; and discussion on a Regional Agreement on Green freight in Asia.

7 February 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the report of the second part of the first session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) (FCCC/ADP/2012/3), which was held in December 2012, in Doha, Qatar. The report indicates that during the session, the ADP continued exchanges of views under a roundtable setting and agreed to hold a number of meetings during 2013, with the aim of advancing its substantive discussions on a 2015 agreement and raising ambition in the post-2012 period.

5 February 2013: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) convened an Africa Adaptation Knowledge Network (AAKNet) workshop under the theme “Convening Adaptation Knowledge Networks and Platforms in Africa,” from 5-6 February 2013, in Nairobi, Kenya. The participating representatives from regional adaptation knowledge platforms agreed to adopt AAKNet as the continental network responsible for coordinating adaptation knowledge.

The second session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) will be held in Bonn, Germany, from 29 April-3 May 2013. The ADP will meet in accordance with the ADP conclusions adopted at the Climate Change Conference held in December 2012, in Doha, Qatar. Workstream 1 discussions are expected to continue addressing the 2015 agreement, including its scope, structure and design, as well as the application of the Climate Change Convention principles. Workstream 2 is expected to address the pre-2020 ambition, which may include discussions on mitigation and adaptation benefits to the impacts of climate change, finance and capacity building to support implementation of the Convention.

The Board of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) is expected to meet in Berlin, Germany, from 13-15 March 2013. According to the Work Plan of the Board (GCF/B.02-12/03), the meeting is expected to address, among other issues: the Board's additional rules of procedure; the selection of the Executive Director; and the structure and organization of the Fund, including the model for the delivery and allocation of resources, access, governance and information disclosure policy.

Given developments in the Nile River basin, including the emergence of a new riparian State, the Ministry of Water Resources and Electricity, Sudan, the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) – Institute for Water Education (IHE), the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and others, are convening participants to discuss water cooperation. The conference will address, inter alia: new Nile projects and politics; new Nile hydrology, morphology and climate change; new Nile land and water use and livelihoods; new Nile economics and optimization; and new Nile futures – institutionalizing interdependencies. IWMI is a member of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
