22 March 2013: This year's edition of World Water Day, celebrated on 22 March, was organized around the theme of water cooperation and within the framework of the International Year of Water Cooperation. The Day's celebrations were coordinated by UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in collaboration with the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), for UN-Water.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) will be hosting a Seminar on States' Action Plans on 13 May 2013, prior to the 14-16 May ICAO Symposium on Aviation and Climate Change. The 13 May seminar is directed at National Focal Points for States' Action Plans and any stakeholders participating in a State Action Plan team. It will cover three key areas: Development of States' Action Plans; States' Action Plan data review; and Implementation of Measures (selected by States in their Action Plans).

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) "Symposium on Aviation and Climate Change: Destination Green" aims to foster a dialogue on environment and aviation among member States and other key stakeholders, leading to the 38th Session of the ICAO Assembly in September 2013. The purpose of the event is to inform and facilitate environment-related discussions and high-level decision-making at ICAO's triennial Assemblies. The Symposium will allow participants to gain knowledge and exchange information on the key areas of ICAO's environmental protection activities, and will showcase the Organization's environmental accomplishments pursuant to the related decisions of the 37th ICAO Assembly (October 2010), and will examine how States can continue to build upon these milestones through: States' Action Plans to reduce CO2 emissions; ICAO's strategy on Assistance to States; New technology Standards including the CO2 Standard for aircraft; and Sustainable alternative fuels for aviation.

The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40) is hosting this three-day summit to convene mayors from the world's largest cities with hundreds of urban and climate change leaders for a series of roundtable discussions and working sessions focused on greenhouse gas (GHG) measurements and climate adaptation. New York City Mayor and C40 Chair Michael Bloomberg and Johannesburg Mayor Mpho Parks Tau are leading the event. Started in 2005, C40 is a network of cities around the world looking to take concrete actions local actions for climate change adaptation and mitigation.
