Kenya Submits INDC [viewed]

Kenya Flag23 July 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced that Kenya has formally submitted its intended nationally determined contribution (INDC), which sets out a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction target of 30% by 2030 compared to a business-as-usual (BAU) scenario of 143 megatons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2-eq). Kenya is the 49th Party to submit its INDC.

Monaco Submits INDC [viewed]

monaco29 July 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced that Monaco is the 50th Party to formally submit its intended nationally determined contribution (INDC), which sets out a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction target of 50% below 1990 levels by 2030. The INDC is communicated in the context of Monaco's previously announced goals of reducing emissions 30% by 2020 and 80% by 2050.

UNEP, UN-REDD Programme Address Bank and Investor Risk Policies on Soft Commodities [viewed]

banking_on_redd29 July 2015: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has released a report, titled 'Bank and Investor Risk Policies for Soft Commodities,' along with an accompanying Soft Commodities Forest-risk Assessment Tool addressing deforestation and forest degradation risk in the agricultural value chain. A UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD) information brief, titled 'Banking on REDD+: Can Bank and Investor Risk Policies on Soft Commodities Benefit REDD+?' was produced in parallel.

UNISDR to Develop Disaster Risk Management Standards for Hotels in Asia and Pacific [viewed]

Marshall Islands Submits INDC [viewed]

marshall-flag21 July 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced that the Marshall Islands is the first small island developing State (SIDS) Party to formally submit its intended nationally determined contribution (INDC), which sets out a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction target of 32% below 2010 levels by 2025. The INDC also includes an indicative target of reducing emissions 45% below 2010 levels by 2030. The submission from the Marshall Islands brings the total number of Parties to submit an INDC to 48.

Japan Submits INDC [viewed]

Japan Flag20 July 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced that Japan is the 47th Party to formally submit its intended nationally determined contribution (INDC), which sets out a reduction target of 26% by fiscal year (FY) 2030 compared to FY 2013 (a 25.4% reduction compared to FY 2005). This reduction equates to approximately 1.042 billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-eq) as 2030 emissions, according to the INDC.

MDBs Will Collaborate to Mobilize Resources for Achievement of SDGs [viewed]

new-zealand7 July 2015: The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced that New Zealand is the 46th Party to formally submit its intended nationally determined contribution (INDC), committing to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to 30% below 2005 levels by 2030. According to the INDC, the target corresponds to a reduction of 11% from 1990 emissions, which will be used as the formal reference level.

Singapore Submits INDC [viewed]

singapure3 July 2015: The Government of Singapore has formally submitted its intended nationally determined contribution (INDC) to the UNFCCC Secretariat, making it the 45th Party to do so. According to its submission, the country intends to achieve a 36% reduction in its 2005 emissions intensity by 2030. It also plans to stabilize its emissions levels, aiming to peak emissions by around 2030.
