9 May 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the submissions from Annex I Parties listed in annex 1 to Decision 1/CMP.7, containing information on their quantified emission limitation or reduction objectives (QELROs) for the second Kyoto Protocol commitment period (FCCC/KP/AWG/2012/MISC.1).
3 May 2012: The European Commission Vice-President responsible for the Digital Agenda, Neelie Kroes, addressed the Smart Energy and Sustainable Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Conference, calling for Europe to use ICT to address the “challenge of managing energy resources.”
3 May 2012: European Commission President José Manuel Durão Barroso and Chinese Vice-Premier Li Keqiang met in Brussels, Belgium, in the First EU-China High Level Meeting on Energy, which saw the signing of a number of agreements and declarations.

30 April 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced that, from 1 May 2012, it will begin receiving project-related submissions under the new Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Project Cycle Procedure, and CDM project participants can request private telephone consultations to clarify issues identified during assessment under the new procedure.

19 April 2012: Addressing the FAO Regional Conference for Europe, the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), José Graziano da Silva, called ending hunger the world's “most urgent” challenge as the global community moves toward sustainable development objectives through the Rio+20 process.
April 2012: The Secretariat of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) has announced a call for experts to serve on the Ad Hoc Working Group to further discuss the options for the provision of scientific advice focusing on desertification, land degradation and drought issues.
16 April 2012: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat have reported that they received bids to host the Green Climate Fund (GCF) from the following six UNFCCC parties: Germany, Mexico, Namibia, Poland, Republic of Korea, and Switzerland.
