Ramsar Releases Preliminary Information on World Wetlands Day 2010 - Wetlands, Biodiversity, and Climate Change [viewed]

© Ramsar12 May 2009: The Communication, Education, Participation and Awareness (CEPA) Programme of the Ramsar Secretariat has released advance information on Worlds Wetlands Day 2010, which will be celebrated on 2 February around the theme “Wetlands, Biodiversity, and Climate Change.” The theme relates to 2010 being proclaimed the International Year of Biodiversity and to the impacts of climate change for present and future wetland ecosystem health.

UNFCCC Posts US Submission to AWG-LCA 6 [viewed]

© UNFCCC5 May 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the US Input to the Negotiating Text for Consideration at the Sixth Session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA 6), in which it supports a Copenhagen agreed outcome that “reflects both common and differentiated elements, is pragmatic, and recognizes the diversity of countries' circumstances and opportunities,” and expresses its commitment to reaching a strong international agreement in Copenhagen. The submission contains sections on mitigation, adaptation, technology and financing.

ADB Names Eminent Climate Change Advisors, Releases Sustainability Report [viewed]

© ADB4 May 2009: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has established an Advisory Group of seven eminent persons to advise the Bank on how to strengthen its programmes to meet the global challenge of climate change. The Advisory Group on Climate Change and Sustainable Development will help ADB management consider ways to assist ADB's developing member countries move their economies onto low-carbon development paths and address the social impacts of climate change.

Federated States of Micronesia and Mauritius Propose Climate-Related Amendment to Montreal Protocol [viewed]

3 May 2009: A joint proposal has been submitted by the Federated States of Micronesia and Mauritius to amend the Montreal Protocol.
