Invitation to join IISD Reporting Services for the Rio Conventions Pavilion Opening Day

The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) invites you to the Rio Conventions Pavilion Opening Day activities on Wednesday, 13 June.

The opening ceremonies will begin with the IISD-organized side event, titled:

“The Roads from Rio – An insider perspective.” at 15:15

The side-event will be followed by the:

Rio Conventions Pavilion Opening Reception at 17:15

organized by IISD and the Rio Conventions Pavilion partners.

Join us for an opportunity to reflect on 20 years of the Earth Negotiations Bulletin (ENB) where it all began – in Rio de Janeiro at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. As publisher of ENB, IISD Reporting Services will provide an insider's briefing on the negotiations, titled “Rio in Perspective.” IISD Reporting Services will also be introducing ENB Mobile, a handheld application to facilitate participation in Rio+20 and other environmental negotiations.

Speakers include: Langston James “Kimo” Goree VI, Director of IISD Reporting Services, Pamela Chasek, Executive Editor, Earth Negotiations Bulletin, and co-editor of The Roads from Rio: Lessons Learned from Twenty Years of Multilateral Environmental Negotiations, and Peter Doran, lecturer in sustainable development, environment and planning at the School of Law at Queens University in Belfast.

The opening side event and reception will take place in the Rio Conventions Pavilion at Athlete's Park, which is a 5-minute walk from Rio Centro (see map below). The facility has general access to the public on 13 June; pre-registration is not required. The Rio Conventions Pavilion is a collaborative capacity-building initiative with the objective of strengthening synergies between the Rio Conventions by providing a coordinated platform to raise awareness and share knowledge on cross-cutting issues related to biodiversity, climate change, and land degradation/desertification (

Food and drink will be served.
