UNCSD-L Book Giveaway Draw
posted on Wednesday, 21 March 2012

Dear colleagues,

For the next two weeks, if you submit an e-mail address to join UNCSD-L or if you send an e-mail regarding your organization's activity at the UNCSD meetings in New York, you will be entered into a drawing for four copies of:

The Roads from Rio: Lessons Learned from Twenty Years of Multilateral Environmental Negotiations

IISD Reporting Services will be giving away four copies of The Roads from Rio: Lessons Learned from Twenty Years of Multilateral Environmental Negotiations (Resources for the Future Press/Routledge, 2012) to the winners of our 30 March 2012 drawing.

This new publication is being launched on 23 March 2012, at a book signing event at the UN Headquarters bookstore in New York. It was written by Earth Negotiations Bulletin writers and co-edited by Pamela Chasek and Lynn Wagner. This book examines the past twenty years of multilateral environmental negotiations, drawing on the authors' and editors' first-hand knowledge as Earth Negotiations Bulletin writers to illustrate the changes that have taken place. The chapters examine the proliferation of meetings, the changes in the actors and their roles (governments, nongovernmental organizations, secretariats), the interlinkages of issues, the impact of scientific advice, and the challenges of implementation across negotiating processes.

Contest Details: There are two ways to qualify for our 4 April book giveaway drawing:

  1. Submit your e-mail address or e-mail addresses of colleagues who are interested in joining UNCSD-L to outreach@iisd.org, or;
  2. Submit an announcement on UNCSD-L regarding your organization's activity at the UNCSD meetings in New York.

The winning e-mails will be drawn on 4 April 2012 and The Roads from Rio: Lessons Learned from Twenty Years of Multilateral Environmental Negotiations will be mailed to the four winners shortly thereafter.

UNCSD-L is suited for representatives of government, intergovernmental organizations and all Major Groups – but to keep our online community strong, please only submit e-mail addresses for those who wish to join UNCSD-L.

If you are in New York for the “informal-informal” consultations and the Third Intersessional Meeting of UNCSD, please join us for the launch of The Roads from Rio: Lessons Learned from Twenty Years of Multilateral Environmental Negotiations, at the UN bookstore on Friday, 23 March, from 1:00-3:00 pm.
