25 November 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has released a report titled "Actions for Controlling Short-Term Climate Forcers." It has also released an associated summary titled: Summary of UNEP’s Integrated Assessment of Black Carbon and Tropospheric Ozone. The report outlines 16 measures that UNEP says could lead to near-term climate protection of 0.5ºC by 2040.
24 November 2011: The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has released a policy brief titled "Building bridges between REDD+ and sustainable agriculture: Addressing agriculture's role as a driver of deforestation."
24 November 2011: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) have signed two financing agreements, committing the two organizations to provide assistance to Pacific coastal communities to adapt to the effects of climate change through improved conservation and sustainable use of fisheries resources.
23 November 2011: Speaking at a press conference ahead of the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Dessima Williams, Permanent Representative of Grenada and Chair of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), has called on delegates in Durban to agree on the renewal of the Kyoto Protocol, as well as on a legally-binding instrument that would allow countries that are not party to the Protocol to take "legally and internationally credible" actions.
22 November 2011: At their XI meeting in Manaus, Brazil, the Foreign Ministers of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) countries adopted a declaration to be forwarded to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) and a "Manaus Commitment" pledging new actions for ACTO cooperation.
22 November 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a technical paper (FCCC/TP/2011/5) on water and climate change impacts and adaptation strategies. The 34th session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technical Advice (SBSTA 34) requested that the Secretariat prepare a technical paper on water and climate change impacts and adaptation strategies under the Nairobi work programme (NWP) before SBSTA 35.
22 November 2011: Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary-General Irwin LaRocque has urged the United States to formally commit to the outcome of the 16th session of the Conference of Parties (COP 16) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which convened in December 2010, in Cancun, Mexico.
21 November 2011: Participants at a Training Workshop on Climate Change Diplomacy, which was organized by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), heard a presentation on the UN CC:Learn project titled “Strengthening Human Resources and Skills Development to Address Climate Change.”
14 November 2011: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has published a working paper titled “Fiscal Reform for a Stronger Fairer and Cleaner Mexican Economy,” which claims that Mexico’s current energy subsidy structure favors higher-income energy users and hinders the transition to low-carbon sources of energy.
November 2011: The latest issue of the Poverty in Focus magazine, published by the International Policy Centre (IPC) of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), looks at the inter-related dimensions of growth, gender, poverty and environment, including climate change mitigation and adaptation related issues.
