28 April 2011: Opening the first meeting of the Transitional Committee for the design of the Green Climate Fund, Christiana Figueres, UNFCCC Executive Secretary, highlighted the Committee's task "to propose a design that will make the Green Climate Fund the window into a new era of vastly greater financing for climate action in the developing world."
28 April 2011: During an official visit in Indonesia, UN Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Helen Clark visited peat swamp areas in Central Kalimantan and met with local officials to discuss their plans for REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, as well as conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stocks) pilot initiatives.

15 April 2011: The 48th session of the Working Group on Strategies and Review under the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution convened in Geneva, Switzerland, from 11-15 April 2011, and focused on strategies to reduce black carbon emissions, one of the air pollutants contributing to climate change.
