Participants will look at policy and regulatory issues and the forces driving finance and investment in renewable energy sources in the Caribbean context, and the scope for a regional approach.

23 March 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced that, as part of its collaboration with the 2014 Winter Olympic Games Sochi organizing committee, it has submitted to the Organizing Committee environmental action plans that cover key areas including Zero Waste and Climate Neutrality.
22 March 2011: The African Rice Center (AfricaRice) has taken on the lead role for Africa in the Global Rice Science Partnership (GRiSP), a new research programme of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
This senior-level meeting coordinated by the Organization of American States (OAS) will discuss Latin America and the Caribbean's (LAC) critical energy and climate issues. Participants will also take stock of initiatives under the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA) and plan for the region's Energy and Climate Ministerial to be hosted by Colombia in April 2012. Among the topics slated for discussion are energy efficiency, land use and forestry, climate change/adaptation, cleaner fossil fuels and accelerating clean energy deployment in LAC.
